BRIDGEPORT COFFEE JACKSON LOOP COFFEEHOUSE TO REMAIN PERMANENTLY CLOSED

June 12, 2020 – Bridgeport Coffee announces the permanent closure of its Jackson Loop coffeehouse at 73 East Jackson Blvd at Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The Jackson Loop coffeehouse’s final day of business took place on March 17, 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic shuttered retail food and drink establishments around the world.

“The economics of the location were simply unsustainable going forward, due to circumstances beyond our or anyone’s control, and we are very grateful to our Loop neighbors, other nearby customers, and city visitors for the support they showed,” said Mike Pilkington, president and founder of Bridgeport Coffee.

“The Jackson location, which was our fourth location, is an isolated case that does not affect the three other existing locations in Bridgeport, Hyde Park and the South Loop,” he said. “Both Bridgeport and Hyde Park have re-opened under new hours and operating conditions. We’ll be making an announcement regarding the South Loop location as soon as we can.”

Founded in 2004, Bridgeport Coffee has grown from a single storefront at 31st and Morgan in historic Bridgeport to a multi-location chain of specialty coffee shops on Chicago’s South Side. Bridgeport Coffee has also dramatically expanded its roasting and importing capabilities over the years, directly importing tens of thousands of pounds of coffee annually from hand-selected coffee farms with whom Bridgeport Coffee maintains ongoing relationships.
