22 Apr Hyde Park receives UChicago pandemic grant
HYDE PARK, CHICAGO April 21, 2020 — We are pleased to announce that the University of Chicago’s Office of Civic Engagement will make a grant to our Hyde Park location to assist in reopening after the Covid-19 pandemic forced its closure in March 2020.
Our grant was one of 182 the University is awarding to South Side small businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. This financial assistance is one element of the institution’s South Side Covid-19 Community Support Initiative launched on March 30. Independently owned or franchised businesses with no more than three locations in the University’s nine neighborhood focus area (Douglas, Grand Boulevard, Greater Grand Crossing, Hyde Park, Kenwood, Oakland, South Shore, Washington Park, and Woodlawn) were eligible to receive grants from the University. #partnersinimpact
Our re-opening is now being planned, with a date in the near future yet to be determined. Our eventual reopening date is partially dependent on when the Hyde Park Art Center, where our location is housed, reopens to our community. Bridgeport Coffee will use the grant for location deep cleaning and various improvements, and a substantial portion will be set aside for staff compensation support.
Bridgeport Coffee Hyde Park is extraordinarily grateful to the University for its generosity and and for its ongoing commitment to community support on the South Side.
Please watch our website, the Hyde Park location page, and Bridgeport Coffee social media (Facebook, Twitter) for our reopening date soon!
